We’re continuing our pencil concept art training, and today’s inspiration comes from Christophe Vacher, an artist known for his epic landscapes and fantasy worlds. I recommend researching the artists who’ve inspired me — many are still active and continue to influence new generations.

The fantasy world, where magic, creatures, and weapons collide, is a rich ground for storytelling. That’s the core of Exclegiuse #1 and #2, where we follow the journeys of Atuma and Thanasia, two protagonists facing challenges in mystical and intense settings.

This training features a concept art piece inspired by 18th-century oil paintings, depicting a medieval port, created by Olga Antonenko. I’ve always been fascinated by drawing human creations built for war, like caravels, fortresses, ports, and combat ships. Maybe one day I’ll create a comic book on the subject? That’s the magic of each drawing: traveling through random themes, diving into unique atmospheres, and letting imagination take over. That’s why it’s sometimes hard to choose what to draw — every page opens a new world.
